Finland, Minnesota has long celebrated St. Urho’s Day in March. In 2007 the committee who had been putting on the event for years decided to retire. Friends of the Finland Community stepped in to continue the tradition.
The 2026 St Urho’s Celebration will be the weekend of March 13th, 14th, and 15th, 2026. The parade is always at noon on Saturday. This years theme is ST. URHO IN WONDEЯLAND.

Theme – ST. URHO IN WONDEЯLAND Float Workshop - March 6th, 7th, and 8th from 11am - 4pm at the Clair Nelson Center. Join us as we build our own floats in preparation for St Urho's parade at noon on March 14th! Refreshments will be served at the workshop. All float-building and craft skill levels are welcome! Heinisirka, heinisirka, mine talta iiten! St. Urho is a fictional Finnish saint who is said to have chased away the grasshoppers to save the grape crop. St. Urho's Day is traditionally March 16th, and there are widespread celebrations across northern Minnesota, and indeed, many places with populations of Finnish descent.
