Meet Carrie Walters
Carrie Walters is the board chair for Friends of Finland and has been a member of the board since January 2025. But that’s not all Walters does for the community. She is also an active member of the Finland Fire Department, Lake County Rescue Squad, and the Little Marais Community Club. Walters really enjoys volunteering and loves to help people. This community ethic also extends to her professional life, where she works in the mortgage and commercial departments at North Shore Federal Credit Union. Carrie has worked at the North Shore Federal Credit Union for 26 years.
With Walters’ busy schedule, you would think that there would be no time for extra activities. But Walters says, “I do a lot of walking and running. I enjoy all outside sports and activities. Everything from snowshoeing, snowmobiling, camping, four-wheeling, bird watching, hiking, kayaking, fishing, etc. I also enjoy gardening and cooking”. Walters goes on to say, “I love exploring for wildlife and finding all the treasures. Finding turtles and frogs always makes me smile. Cool bugs or little flowers, spider webs, etc. I also enjoy studying the bible, doing puzzles, and reading detective books”.
Walters has always lived on the North Shore and grew up in Grand Marais. “I am so blessed to live on the North Shore. I especially appreciate living surrounded by nature and how our community bands together to help each other,” explains Walters. Walters has been happily married to her husband Jesse for 3 years, and they have an 11-year-old dog named Tyson.
Friends of Finland thanks Walters for her community work and looks forward to working with her to make Finland and its surrounding area a more inviting and vibrant place to live.
