Don’t miss this year’s Harvest Booya Festival. It’s a tradition that has deep roots in our community. Originally started as a fundraiser for a new roof on the Zion Lutheran Church, the Harvest Booya Festival was so much fun that we’ve kept it going! And as we start to get ready for this year’s festival, the Finland Food Chain is looking for volunteers to help prep, serve, and clean at the annual Harvest Booya Festival at the Clair Nelson Center! We need folks to help chop veggies on Friday evening and a few people to help at the event on Saturday. Click here the link below if you’re able to help. As always, volunteers get a free meal!

Last year we introduced a new tradition to the Harvest Booya Festival: The Sisu Community Impact Recognition Award. The award was created to recognize a person- or people- who have gone above and beyond in service to Finland and the surrounding area. Sisu is often described as a uniquely Finnish form of resilience, courage and inner strength. But sisu is more than an attitude—it is demonstrated through action. A person with sisu rolls up their sleeves, volunteers, shares resources and works to make the community a better place for everyone.

Last year, the first Sisu Community Impact Recognition Award was presented to Dan Cahill Mathews, with recognition also given to his wife, Kaylee. This year’s winner of the award will be announced during the Harvest Booya Festival.
