
Saying Goodbye to the Finland Fire Tower
Built in 1950, the Finland Fire Tower (Lookout Tower #394) has stood as a vigilant reminder of the effort it takes to protect a community from the threat of wildfires. But after 76 years, and technological advancements that made the tower obsolete for it’s purpose, the tower had fallen into dangerous disrepair. So late last month the tower was quietly taken down. Many people expressed sadness when learning about the tower’s demolition, sharing photos and memories of their visits to the landmark over the years.
