St Urho Flies the Coop – Information and Schedule of Events

St Urho’s Celebration will be March 11th, 12th and 13th this year. The Theme is St Urho Flies the Coop.

Are there grapes out there that need protecting? A grasshopper herd that is growing too large? Does Miss Helmi have a sister?

Maybe St Urho just needs to take a vacation. 

St Urho’s Weekend is back for another year with a combination of online/livestream events as well as outdoor events, the main one being the parade at Noon on Saturday March 12th.

We ask that you follow current COVID guidelines so as to keep everyone safe. We will also be livestreaming the parade and other events for folks to watch from home.

Friday, March 11th –  6-8pm – Miss Helmi Talent and Beauty Contest – various stops around town

8pm-Midnight – Music at the Four Seasons by Tara Nelson Aleshire/Upbeat Entertainment

Saturday, March 12th –

8-10am – Finland MN Historical Society’s Pancake Breakfast at the Clair Nelson Center

11am – Noon – Outdoor music at the Finland Fire Hall by Robin Sunquiet

Noon – Tug of War across the Baptism River

Before and during the parade – Finland Fire and Rescue will be selling refreshments outside the Finland Fire Hall

Before and during the parade – AfterProm will be selling St Urho T-shirts.

Noon-1 pm – Parade through Finland on Highway 1. Call Cheri Bischoff at 218-220-9947 to register for the parade. The Parade will also be livestreamed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/sturho/

1-3pm – Outdoor music at the Finland Fire Hall by Steven Solkela and the Bad at Math Quartet.

1-2:30pm – Kids grasshopper and grapes mini-snow-sculpture contest at the Finland Fire Hall.

After the parade – Wildhurst will have food and beer specials.

After the parade – Music at the Our Place by the Curry Band. Food and drink specials.

3-5pm – Chicken Poop Bingo at the Four Seasons

8pm-Midnight – Music at the Four Seasons by Tara Nelson Aleshire/Upbeat Entertainment

Sunday, March 13th –

4pm – Raffle Ticket Drawing – Livestream – Drawing will take place at the Our Place. Door prizes start at 3:00pm! Tune in to the St Urho’s Celebration in Finland, MN Facebook Page to watch.

7pm – Bidding ends for the St Urho’s Online Auction Fundraiser.
